Boustead Legacy

1828

Edward Boustead founded Boustead & Co, a modest trading firm in Singapore, eventually to become one of the great trading houses of the Far East, alongside Jardine Matheson Group (1832), Swire Group (1870), and Raffles International (1887). Boustead’s core business was import and export, shipping, and insurance agency.

1864

With trade growing between Singapore and Malay, and as the Straits of Malacca became a primary waterway, Boustead & Co opened a branch in Penang.

1880

Boustead & Co introduced rubber trees into Malaysia and built a leading presence there, owning and managing 49 plantations totaling over 140,000 acres.

1892

Boustead & Co handled its first shipment of bulk oil to Penang. Shell Trading and Transport Company is formed with a Boustead partner as one of the founding directors of the new company, known today as Royal Dutch Shell PLC.

1910

Boustead PLC founded in London (formerly known as Taiping Rubber Plantations Limited), which ultimately lists on the London Stock Exchange.

1920s

Boustead & Co represents over 20 major shipping lines and numerous insurance agencies including the renowned Lloyd’s, for nearly a century.

1961

Boustead PLC consolidates its financial and trading businesses to form a new public listed company on the London Stock Exchange.

1960s – 2000s

Boustead PLC reorganizes into three separate public companies: Boustead Holdings Berhad ($3bn market cap on Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange) and Boustead Singapore ($1bn market cap on Singapore Stock Exchange), alongside Boustead PLC’s LSE listing.

1992

Sutter Securities, Inc. is founded as a FINRA-registered broker-dealer.

2006

Boustead Securities, LLC is founded as a FINRA-registered broker-dealer.

2016

Boustead & Company Limited formed in Nevada, USA as the holding company for the diversified and comprehensive non-bank financial institution group; acquires Boustead Group (UK) Limited, Boustead Securities, and Boustead’s Mauritius entities.

2016 – 2017

Boustead acquires Sutter Securities Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries including the FINRA-registered clearing broker dealer Sutter Securities Clearing, LLC, funding portal (www.flashfunders.com), cash custody escrow firm, and transfer agency.

2017

Boustead Securities Underwrites the first-ever Reg A+ IPO on Nasdaq, offered online at FlashFunders.com; Ranked among Top Five US Underwriters of Chinese IPOs.

2018

Sutter Securities Group acquires Sutter Capital Management, Inc. a Los Angeles-based blockchain fund manager. Boustead establishes London-based Boustead Capital Markets LLP as an appointed representative of a UK Financial Conduct Authority-authorized and regulated firm.

2019

Sutter Securities Group acquires San Francisco-based Sutter Securities, Inc., a retail/ institutional FINRA-registered broker dealer.

2019

Boustead Securities and its affiliates are actively engaged by their clients for transactions totaling $2+ billion in value, spanning underwritten IPOs, Reg A+ and Reg D private placements, 1031 and distributed securities offerings, and fund representation and capital offerings.

2019

Boustead Securities named Sole U.S. Lead Underwriter for the USD$62 million Nasdaq firm commit IPO of Molecular Data Inc. (“MKD”), and Co-Manager for the USD $200 million NYSE firm commit IPO of AMTD International Inc. (“HKIB”)
