Michael Welch

Managing Director

Biography

Michael Welch joined Boustead Securities in 2014. Before joining Boustead he spent twelve years as a financial consultant with Welch & Associates, Inc. There he provided advisory services to companies in developing business plans and strategies, advising on financing alternatives and serving as a part-time CFO.

Prior to establishing Welch & Associates, Mike served as CFO for several start-up Internet businesses, including one in e-commerce and one in Internet security software. From 1996-1998, Mike was CFO and Treasurer of Equity Marketing, a $160 million NASD-listed consumer products and promotions company. Before that he spent eight years with Mattel, the world’s largest toy company, in a variety of senior financial positions including VP of Corporate Development, Assistant Treasurer and Director of Investor Relations.   At Mattel, Mike led corporate development efforts that resulted in 10 acquisitions, representing 70% of the company’s growth from $1.0 billion to $5.0 billion in revenues. Due in large part to that successful roll-up strategy, Mattel’s market value increased from $0.5 billion to over $12 billion.  From 1983-1989, he served as Senior VP of Security Pacific National Bank, responsible for strategic planning, international acquisitions and divestitures and retail delivery systems. Prior to Security Pacific, Mike spent five years as Director of Corporate Development at Mattel, primarily responsible for strategic planning, acquisitions and divestitures.

Mike earned his MBA from the University of Southern California, where he also graduated with a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance. In 2003, he founded the Los Angeles/South Bay chapter of the Financial Executives Networking Group (FENG), a national organization of senior financial executives, which he continues to lead.

Holds FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses.
